SMI

It's been said that the church is the hope of the world. Do you believe that? Do you believe that Christians, as the body of Christ, hold in their possession all that the world needs? We have been entrusted with the Gospel and commanded to take that "Good News" to the nations and make disciples. That is a big job that's going to take not just professional clergy but every believer getting into the game and playing a part.

Jesus said this in John 4:34, "My food is to do what God wants! He is the one who sent me, and I must finish the work that He gave me to do." Jesus knew His Father and was aimed at finishing HIS assignment. What if every believer had this attitude? What if every person was intimately connected to God and was doing the work He gave them to do? Not only would they be overflowing with a sense of purpose, but the Kingdom would be growing by leaps and bounds as lives were eternally changed!

We believe it's the job of church Pastors and directors to train God's people to connect with God. And it should be the highest quality in training in Spokane. Why? Because God deserves the very best that we have to offer!

The Spokane Ministry Institute (SMI) Develops

  • New Believers

  • Volunteers

  • Servant leaders for ministry teams and a church mulitplication movement (both domestic and overseas)

  • High impact Christian leaders for the marketplace

Our approach is based on three ministry competencies:

HEAD SKILLS: This refers to our cognitive development. The focus here is on knowing. It deals with necessary concepts and academic knowledge that are essential to our lives and ministry. These are primarily acquired in classroom trainings.

HANDS SKILLS: This refers to competencies we need in the practical dimensions of our life and ministry. The focus here is on doing. These are primarily acquired in the ministry practicum.

HEART SKILLS: This speaks of our inner person, our character. The focus here is on being.

What we Offer: We offer three tracks within the Spokane Ministry Institute (see the buttons to the right) with an overall focus on helping each person become a life-long learner, clarify their calling and ministry fit, further develop their inner character, be equiped with practical ministry skills, nuture a spirit dependant lifestyle, deepen their understanding of God's word and potentially recieve a SMI certificate recognized by the ICFG (International Church of the Foursquare Gospel)
